An established regional firm seeks a Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with approximately 1 years’ PQE to join a busy, ranked Planning and Environmental team based primarily in Southampton. The role focuses on non‑contentious planning and environmental work for developer clients, with opportunities to assist on transactional matters and help develop the team’s natural capital practice.
You will advise on all aspects of planning law, including applications, appeals, local plan policies and variations to permissions; draft and negotiate section 106 agreements and unilateral undertakings; support planning litigation and statutory and judicial reviews where required; provide practical advice on biodiversity net gain, natural capital, CIL, EIAs/EORs, compulsory purchase and compensation; monitor and explain regulatory, policy and legislative developments including the Planning and Infrastructure Bill; contribute to site acquisitions and development projects for residential housebuilders, strategic land transactions, development finance and commercial schemes; collaborate with colleagues across teams to advise on transport infrastructure, ports and marinas and care, older‑living and health projects; and manage and develop client relationships to deliver exceptional service while building your own practice.
